Witham Oaks is the approximately 90 acre property that sits between the southwest end of Circle Blvd. and Harrison Blvd. Once slated for development, the fate of the property is now undetermined and has the potential to become a unique natural wild area within our city.

It spans a variety of habitats and offers an easily accessible area for recreation and peaceful reflection.

Recent Updates:

  1. Campus Crest is aiming to submit their development plan and zone change request to the Planning Commission in early June.

  1. Campus Crest’s zone change application and development plan would change 27 acres of the Witham Oaks property from Rs-6 to Rs-20, allowing an apartment complex to house 900 students.  They request that the remaining property to be rezoned as open space conservation.  The most recent version of the proposal was submitted on February 19, 2013.  See it here.

  1. Our position: FOWO stands by our mission to preserve the property as open space.  We do not believe that the zoning change is in the best interest of the Corvallis community.

  1. We welcome donations to the operational fund to help us with expenses incurred as we oppose the proposed zoning change.  See our donations page for more info.  Donation transfers from the land purchase fund to the operational fund are also welcome.

  1. Stay tuned for notifications regarding neighborhood meetings with Campus Crest to discuss their intentions for the Witham Oaks property.  See our FAQ page or our letter to donors for more info.

This is our ONE chance to talk with the Campus Crest developers about their plans for the Witham Oaks property.  Please show up and ask any questions you have!

Mission Statement:

We hope to raise money to purchase the property from US Bank and donate it to the City of Corvallis for preservation as open space.

We envision a management plan that, through partnerships, will protect and restore the property’s valuable natural resources while providing public access to open space and trails as well as opportunities for education and research.
